What are you afraid of?
S.C. Carrillo is an illustrator and teaching artist based out of Southern California. Currently pursuing an MFA in Illustration at California State University Long Beach, Carrillo’s current practice seeks to understand the impact of fear and anxiety, the innate connection between mind and body, and how physicality can serve both as connecting tissue between herself and her work and as a self-soothing process for coping with her greatest fears.
A longtime fan of horror, fantasy, and BL, Carrillo uses these elements together to create work that serves both as a form of escapism and as a way of making sense of the irrationality of anxiety disorders.
Carrillo’s current favorite work and recommendation is Dungeon Meshi by Ryoko Kui.
